Bailey County wreck – Five injured

Five people were hospitalized after a wreck near the Texas-New Mexico state line in Bailey County and Roosevelt County, New Mexico.

No fatalities were reported, but three people sustained serious injuries, one has moderate injuries, and one person suffered minor injuries. It is reported that three people were airlifted to University Medical Center after the wreck between the semi trailer and minvan.

According to, minivans and SUVs have the lowest driver death rate.

·      Minivans have a driver death rate of  25

·      Pickup trucks have a driver death rate of 52

·      Cars have the highest death rate of 56

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says that the earlier versions of the SUV had high rollover risk, but the new minivans have electronic stability control, which helps the driver maintain control and is an important feature especially during fast turns or swerves.
