DPS Trooper Involved in three-vehicle wreck

A Trooper for the Texas Department of Public safety and one other person were taken to Medical Center Hospital after being injured in a three-vehicle wreck in West Odessa.

Trooper Adrian Olivas was traveling east on West 16th St. when a black2003 Dodge Ram, going south on Tripp Avenue, collided with Olivas’ vehicle. A news release from the Department of Public Safety stated that the collision caused Olivas’ vehicle to collide with a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche that was behind the trooper’s 2010 Ford Crown Victoria.

Both Olivas and a passenger from the Dodge, Natalie Zavalla, were taken to Medical Center Hospital with minor injuries. According to the release, the driver of the Dodge, Rosalba Uballe, was cited for running a stop sign.

According to the US Library of Medicine, stop sign violations accounted for about 70% of all crashes. Drivers younger than 18 as well as drivers 65 and older were disproportionately found to be at fault in crashes at stop signs.
