Pedestrian clipped by truck, suffers broken leg

A morning wreck in downtown Lubbock sent one person to the hospital. Police say a pickup clipped a person crossing the street near the courthouse at Buddy Holly and Main around 9:30 a.m.

An officer on the scene said that the victim suffered a broken leg. No names have been released at this time.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrians are more likely to be killed in a crash between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. or during the weekend on Saturday or Sunday. Also, pedestrians have a higher possibility to be killed in a non-speeding condition than in a speeding condition based on fatality per crash.
