Six people taken to the hospital following rollover wreck near Alpine

The Jaws of Life were used in an early morning rollover wreck around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday.

According to Alpine officials, the rollover wreck occurred on Highway 90, east of Alpine.

Six people were in a minivan that hit a slick spot in the road and rolled several times, crushing the roof. Witnesses stated that three people had to be pulled out of the van and one was ejected.

All six people were taken to Big Bend Regional Medical Center.

According to the Federal Highway Administration, on average, there are over 5,870,000 vehicle crashes each year. Twenty-three percent (23%) of these crashes—nearly 1,312,000—are weather-related.
