Wheelchair-Bound Man Killed by Truck in Albuquerque

A wheelchair-bound man was struck and killed by a truck in southeast Albuquerque.  The incident involving a truck and a pedestrian occurred at the intersection of Zuni Road and Alvarado Drive during at about 9 p.m. in the evening.

The people involved in the accident have been identified.  According to police department officials, the pedestrian traveling through the intersection was Thomas Quesada-Cuevas, who was 70 years of age. George Valliant was the truck driver.

Mr. Quesada-Cuevas was transported by paramedics to UNM Hospital, but he did not survive his injuries and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Although the investigation remains ongoing, police report that alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the unfortunate incident.
