Pilot | Lubbock
John is our law firm’s on-call pilot. He grew up in Lovington, New Mexico. John started flying in 1968, getting his commercial airplane rating the summer after he graduated from high school. He joined the Army in 1970 as a helicopter pilot, and retired from the Army in 1978. He then flew as a corporate pilot for a trucking company in Monahans, Texas. He went on to get a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1981. John was hired a Federal Aviation Administration Aviation Safety Inspector in Lubbock, Texas, in 1989, where he spent the majority of his career. He retired from the FAA at the end of 2015. John joined our firm in March of 2016.
John holds an Airline Transport Pilot rating for airplane multi-engine land and helicopter. He also has commercial pilot privileges for airplane single engine land and sea. He also holds a flight instructor rating for airplane single and multi-engine, rotorcraft helicopter, instrument airplane and helicopter. Over John’s long and distinguished career as a pilot, he has logged in excess of 13,500 flight hours.
John and his wife have been married for more than 44 years. In his spare time—no surprise here—John enjoys flying and spending time with his grand kids.
