El Paso woman dies in rollover wreck

One El Paso woman in dead after a rollover wreck about 40 miles north of Truth or Consequences.

According to officials with the New Mexico State Police said that Maria Uriba-Cardosa was driving with her husband, Armando Cereceras, on November 8th at 10:51 a.m. when their back tire blew out. The tire blowout caused the vehicle to roll over and hit the median, killing Uribe-Cardosa on impact.

Her husband did not have any reported injuries and was released at the scene. Both Uriba-Cardosa and Cardosa were wearing seatbelts during the time of the wreck and officials said that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

According to safecar.gov, which is powered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, some 40% of fatal rollover crashes involved excessive speeding and nearly half of all fatal rollover crashes involve alcohol.
