The northbound lanes at 114th and Highway 87 have been reopened after a motorcycle crash.
According to DPS Troopers and the Lubbock Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash around 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to officials, a red pickup truck and a motorcycle were both heading north on Highway 87 when the pickup made an unsafe lane change, hitting the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the pickup was not injured.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the federal government estimates that per mile traveled in 2011, the number of deaths on motorcycles was over 30 times the number in cars.
