One dead and others injured in Sunday night crash in Terry County

A car wreck in Terry County killed one man Sunday night.

According to troopers, the wreck occurred around 10:30 p.m. on West U.S. Highway 62/380 just 4 miles west of Brownfield.

Justin Rogers, 21-years-old, was driving a 2000 Volvo when he lost control of his speed and rear ended a 2002 Chevy Suburban driven by Dennis Garcia, 49-years-old.

Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene , his passenger was taken to UMC in Lubbock with moderate injuries.

Dennis Garcia and his wife, 50-year-old Debbie Garcia, were taken to Brownfield Regional Hospital with moderate injuries.

Officials said that the primary factor of the crash, unknown at this time how fast Vovo was traveling, under investigation. Also, alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor.

According to the CDC, drugs other than alcohol (e.g., marijuana and cocaine) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs are often used in combination with alcohol.
