One killed in central El Paso motorcycle wreck

Officials on the scene said that one person was killed in a motorcycle wreck on Friday evening near Montana Avenue and Sioux Drive in central El Paso.

Emergency dispatchers said that two people on a motorcycle were hit by a pickup truck on Montana Avenue. One person was taken to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment for injuries. The cause of the crash is still unknown, but officials said that their Special Traffic Investigations unit is investigating the crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2012, there were 33,561 fatalities in the United States. Traffic fatalities increased by over 3 percent from 2011 to 2012 for the Nation as a whole. Thirty-seven States showed increases in fatalities from 2011 to 2012, ranging from less than 1 percent to as much as 44 percent.
