A wreck on Highway 84 sent six people to hospitals Saturday evening. A Ford Expedition and a white car were both travelling westbound when the wreck happened. Witness Scott Phillips said that the Expedition almost hit the white car in the right lane. Witnesses say that the white car swerved to avoid colliding with the Expedition, and that’s when the white car hit a pole off the right side of the roadway. A woman and three boys in the white car were taken to University Medical Center by ambulance. A little girl in the white car was also taken to UMC by Aerocare. A passenger in the Expedition was also taken to the hospital.
The crash shut down all westbound traffic for more than two hours, resulting in large backups for traffic heading to Lubbock.
