PRESS RELEASE: LAWSUIT FILED AGAINST LUBBOCK ISD AND TEACHER FOR CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

LUBBOCK, Texas — October 1, 2025 — Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Lubbock mother and her three-year-old son against Lubbock Independent School District (LISD) and teacher Samantha Reasoner. The lawsuit alleges that during the 2025–2026 school year, Ms. Reasoner, a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Nat Williams Elementary School, sexually assaulted the child during classroom nap time.

The abuse occurred on multiple occasions during September 2025. The lawsuit further alleges that LISD was grossly negligent in hiring, supervising, and retaining Ms. Reasoner, and failed to report the abuse as required by law.

The child, referred to in court filings as John Doe to protect his identity, has suffered severe and lasting emotional and psychological trauma. The lawsuit seeks damages for the child’s injuries as well as medical expenses and related costs.

“No family should ever endure this type of betrayal,” said Attorney Laney Piercy of Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers. “Schools have a duty to protect the children placed in their care, and we intend to hold the district accountable for failing in that duty. We encourage any other victims of Reasoner’s abuse to come forward and contact us. Speaking out is an important step toward ensuring no other child is ever put at risk again.”
