Biography

Karla grew up in the Rio Grande Valley in Brownsville, Texas. She is bi-lingual and was raised speaking Spanish as her primary language as her parents both speak Spanish predominantly. She is the first in her family to attend and graduate college, beginning at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Karla originally set her eyes on a career in criminal justice but quickly found a different calling while working with the LEAP Center at Sam Houston State.

Under the mentorship of LEAP Director Mike Yawn, Karla began to explore the possibilities of a career in law. She deepened her knowledge by working for various personal injury firms during the summers of her undergrad studies at Sam Houston State from 2015 to 2018 before graduating with a Bachelor of Art in Political Science and Minor in Legal Studies & Criminal Justice

Karla Later attended Texas Tech School of Law where she graduated cum Laude. During her time at Texas Tech, she served as a member of the Hispanic Law Students Association, Pro Bono Student Board of Directors, and was a part of the budget committee for the Student Bar Association. She also served prestigiously as the elected Senator for Texas Tech Law School, representing the program in the student government. Throughout her time at Texas Tech Karla provided aid to various legal programs including The Texas Tech Dream Resource Center and The Innocence Project of Texas. During her time volunteering for the Innocence Project of Texas Karla helped translate letters from Spanish to English to ensure anyone, regardless of background, could receive help with their legal matters

Karla joined Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers in June 2019 as a law clerk. She became a licensed attorney in New Mexico in 2021 and scored high enough to practice law in Texas as well. Karla brings over six years of legal experience. She is excited about leading the Albuquerque office and connecting with the Albuquerque community.
