Samantha Martinez, 30, killed in DWI Crash in Lubbock

Lubbock, Texas – Samantha Martinez was killed Sunday morning in a DWI crash in Lubbock, Texas according to authorities. The crash occurred around 3:38am Sunday, March 13 near the 4400 block of 34th Street.

According to the press release from the Lubbock police department, “Upon arrival, officers located 30 year-old Samantha Martinez, who was pronounced deceased on scene. They also located 43 year-old Elisa Bengoa with moderate injuries. Bengoa was transported to University Medical Center via ambulance.”

An initial investigation indicated Bengoa struck Martinez’s vehicle from behind before crashing into a building. Martinez’s vehicle continued to travel before coming to a stop in the intersection of 34th Street and Salem Avenue.

Bengoa is being charged with intoxication manslaughter, the report said.

When questioned by police, Bengoa stated she had been drinking at Cheers Bar. She said she had five beers to drink as well as five shot.
